In a joint effort, Optocentro and ISEC conducted eye screenings last week for 248 elementary and preschool children at the Carnaxide School District Health Fair.
Over the course of four days, second-year optometry students at ISEC gained professional experience working with the youngest students at EB1 Sylvia Philips Elementary School in Carnaxide and São Bento Elementary School in Barcarena.
Also in attendance were optometrist Marisa Jordão and two interns from the University of Beira Interior.
It was a privilege to revisit my school days and help look after these children’s eye health.
